Course Duration: 24 contact hours
Course Level: This certificate course is considered the "gold standard" in first aid education in the U.K. It qualifies the holder to act as a Statutory "First Aider" in the workplace, subject to appointment by their employer. There is a blend of theory, which is integrated into the principles and practice of first aid. No previous knowledge is required for this course.
Course Content: l Resuscitation and care of an unconscious casualtyl Treatment & control of bleeding and shock l Legal considerations of first aid in the workplacel Transportation of casualties l Illness recognition, eye irrigation & poisoningl Treatment to bones, muscles and joints l Suitable and sufficient simple record keepingl Personal hygiene in treating wounds l Communication and delegation in an emergency

Course Outcomes: Statutory First Aider competent to assess, treat and follow up situations covered in the course content.

Certificate Accreditation: Statutory First Aider Certificate, issued by First Aid Training, an organisation approved by the Health & Safety Executive to conduct statutory first aid education and assessment programmes under the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations. The Certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue (the final date of the course).

Further study options: l Regular updating during the validity of the Certificate (Management of Health & Safety Regulations)l First Aid at Work (Requalification) Certificate between within the validity of the Certificate. If the course is undertaken within the final three months of it's validity, the unexpired time is taken into account. l AED Training
