Course Level:

This short course in basic first aid is a fun and complete introduction to the subject. It is designed for those who have no experience in first aid as well as those who want to update their skills. Subjects of interest to the students will be incorporated into the sessions. Typical students are those wanting to be able to do first aid at home and those working in low or medium risk workplaces, or supporting First Aiders in higher risk areas. The course can be for home use, work purposes such as an Appointed Person or study use eg NVQ elements. There is no exam and a Certificate is awarded on successful completion of the course.

Course Content:

l Care of a choking casualty

l Treatment & control of bleeding and shock 

l Personal hygiene in treating wounds

l Negotiated delegate needs

Training Methods:

l Resuscitation models

l Demonstrations

l Plenary group work

l Brainstorming

l Video viewing

Course Outcomes:

Emergency "Appointed Person" able to assess, treat and follow up situations covered in the course content.

Assessment Methods:

l 6 hours attendance, certified by your course Trainer

l There is no end of course assessment.

Certificate Accreditation:

General "Appointed Person" Certificate, issued by First Aid Training, an organisation approved by the Health & Safety Executive to conduct statutory first aid education and assessment programmes under the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations. The Certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue (the final date of the course).
